12 Questions to ask Someone on your First Date

Ah yes the dreaded first date… Whether you’re nervous, excited, or you’re just looking for some good conversation topics, we’ve got the perfect questions for you! These questions will help you break the ice and get to know a little bit more about your date! Good luck out there daters!

1. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

This will not only help put your date at ease, but it gives them an opportunity to let you know how they operate and communicate. It also shows that you can be a good listener if they want to talk first.

2. What’s your favorite hobby?

If there is one thing most people enjoy, it’s talking about themselves. Showing interest in a person’s hobbies can make them feel comfortable around you, as well as get them excited to share their favorite things with you. Not to mention it’s the easiest icebreaker in the book and is one of the best ways to get to know someone.

3. Who’s the most interesting person you’ve met?

Who knows they might have an interesting story/anecdote about said person or you might even find out about an interesting mutual friend in the process! This is a good way to gauge what a person finds interesting, or at the very least get some good gossip!

4. What’s the last book you got into?

If you’re an avid reader, this line should definitely work wonders! The two of you can discuss favorites and give/get good book recommendations. A person’s favorite book can reveal a lot about them.

This question is a great way to keep conversation flowing, you can show off any useful (or useless) movie trivia you have on hand, and even make plans to watch a few movies together!

This is a great way to discover fun phases or obscure interests about your date. You can get to know someone’s funny and weird side, and in many cases it can have the two of you laughing your asses off.

8. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Everybody has a guilty pleasure. They’re lying if they say they don’t! This is a great way to open up to someone and establish trust. Plus, it’s just plain fun to learn about each other’s guilty pleasures.

9. Tell me something interesting about your family or friends?

Once you’ve gotten to know enough about your date, ask about their personal life (friends and/or family). Share something about yourself and your family as well, after all it is a two-way street.

10. What’s the best or worst ice cream flavor?

I’ve been told that this is a risky question to ask since it could cause a rift of sorts if your date’s opinion differs from yours. But go for it anyway in the name of love and if you do disagree, then just defuse it with humor.  Maybe you’ll even discover a new strange flavor you might never even have heard of before and that might entice you both to try it out on the second date!

11. What’s your go-to funny story?

Everybody loves the class clown! This gives you both a chance to share some of your funniest stories or jokes and crack each other up throughout the date, disrupting everyone else’s dinners in the process! Even if you don’t know any funny stories, just crack a few dad jokes. Those never hurt anyone!

12. What odd talent do you have?

Again, a great way to get to know your date and even share something in common if you too have the same odd talent. Also, for all you know, your date night as well turns out to be an Olympic gymnast!
